The cowrie was once a form of currency in some West African nations such as amongst the Yoruba people in modern day Nigeria. This fine art series juxtaposes the cowrie shell and more modern generations of currency (gold, the American dollar, and cryptocurrency) in order to provoke dialogue about generational wealth in the Black community and the impact that shifts in culture can have on commerce.
